Today (July 1), Meta announced that it’s rolling out a “new era” of Athletic Intelligence for its AI glasses for golfers. The company’s Ray-Ban Meta, Oakley Meta, and Meta Glasses are receiving significant golf integration, thanks to 18Birdies and Arccos. Of course, such integration is nothing without the user’s choice of preferred app, and that’s exactly what Meta is providing.
After deciding, users will experience a “voice-first golf experience” that delivers information about their game as they play. Course data, wind conditions, your performance data, club recommendations, and more will be spoken to you by Meta AI. Bringing 18Birdies and Arccos into the mix unlocks a whole new level of golf. Meta states that, with 18Birdies, users can say, “Hey Meta, start a round of golf.” Yardage details, hazard warnings, and more become clear, all without you needing to ruin your focus.
Arccos handles the master-level recommendations for which club might earn you better results. Oakley showed off a demo of how Meta AI’s golf integration can help a user figure out their aim and which club to use. The AI is specific, detailing how the hole is on the land, so you understand why the recommendation was given. When a round concludes, Meta AI alongside Arccos can deliver “insights into your play by accessing strokes-gained analytics, connecting with coaches on Skillest, and tracking your improvement over time.”
Always go for a hole-in-one
Meta says its AI-integrated golfing experience is here to lend a hand in strategy while you’re teeing off. What’s more, users can capture POV photos and videos while they play to share with others. Integration with 18Birdies and Arccos is rolling out in the U.S. and Canada for Ray-Ban Meta, Oakley Meta, and the Meta Glasses.
Meta highlighted an important pair of AI glasses in this announcement: the Oakley Meta Vanguard. The company’s Oakley Meta HSTN was also mentioned as a pair of frames that enhance the experience for athletes. Regarding the Meta Vanguard, they’re pretty handy to have for runners, hikers, and cyclists. The glasses feature strong integration with Garmin, letting users ask Meta about their “average/current pace” when on a run.

Golf has been recommended to me before on a couple of different occasions. What’s gotten me interested in Meta’s integrations, from an outsider’s perspective, is how useful its AI seems. Those Instagram vids are a treat to watch, I’d encourage you to do so if you haven’t. The user can ask about anything pertaining to their score, how their score is trending, and even how to strike the ball. All I’m missing is an arc to show up mid-strike it does in video games and we’re set.
