Like many other companies, Meta Connect is the time for consumers and developers to see what’s coming next from the company. This year will be no different, as Meta revealed that its Connect 2026 event will be held from September 23-24. Those looking to attend will have to head to Menlo Park, California, to the company’s campus.
All we have right now are small teasers. Meta says users will get a good look at the company’s “next computing platform” during the showcase. What’s more, Meta will be holding “evening keynote and developer sessions.” It’s at this time that we should expect to see its VR development, wearables, metaverse details, and (of course) AI. Meta is aware of its big VR push (how could it not?), stating that we’ll see how it can push that industry forward.
More details are expected to surface from Meta as the year progresses. While we wait, there are a few things we should note.
This Connect could be massive, too
Android Central’s Nicholas Sutrich is typically engrossed in Meta’s VR happenings and expects the company to have a slew of hardware reveals during Connect 2026. That appears to be the case, considering it’s teased “wearables” and VR, potentially signaling glimpses at new smart glasses and headsets. However, it’s the latter portion, the VR headsets, that Sutrich is focusing on. He expects Meta to give us something about its long-rumored Ultralight Quest during the keynote.
As far as its AI goes, we’ve seen—and in detail, too—where Meta is trying to position it with the Muse Spark LLM. It was giving Gemini vibes, but with Meta’s flair. Meta stated during its launch that Muse Spark was designed to usher us into a “people first” era of AI. Muse Spark can reportedly leverage multiple agents to tackle given tasks with “accuracy and speed.” If you saw Meta’s Q1 earnings this year, you’d know that it’s sparing no expense with AI (literally). The company’s spending shot up by 35%, with $33 billion spent between January 1 and March 31, 2026.
Android Central’s Take
If you’re ever just interested in seeing what’s coming from others in the industry, Meta’s Connect is pretty good for that. The company’s ambitions are grand, and there’s no hiding that it wants to dominate that VR space. I think its VR headsets are pretty cool in what they can do. Even its glasses are nice. It’s only May, so I’m interested in seeing what the company ends up teasing to truly build hype for the event.
