The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 is expected to launch on July 22, alongside the Z Fold 8 models, but the latest leak reveals a frustrating reality: you may soon be paying a lot more for almost the same hardware, except without the premium Snapdragon silicon everyone was expecting.
Thanks to a detailed leak from WinFuture, we now know precisely what this foldable brings to the table. The phone is said to pack a 6.9-inch 120Hz inner display and a 4.1-inch outer screen. The camera hardware seems to have been left entirely untouched, with the same 50MP main sensor with OIS, a 12MP ultrawide, and a 10MP selfie shooter.
But instead of the top-tier Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 that’s expected to power the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8, Samsung is said to be opting for its own 10-core Exynos 2600. This chip runs at a respectable 3.8 GHz, but at this price point, passing on Qualcomm’s flagship silicon is a tough pill to swallow.
Note that there are a few minor physical tweaks. The Flip 8 is likely to lose some weight, dropping down to 180g from last year’s 188g. Strangely enough, though it loses mass, the device is actually two-tenths of a millimeter thicker in height and width when unfolded.
On the battery front, the 4,300mAh capacity is tipped to remain the same, but there is now optional 45W wired charging and standard 12GB of RAM.
The real pain is at the till. Base pricing in Europe could start at €1,299 for the 256GB configuration — a flat €100 hike over the Flip 7, if true. The 512GB will reportedly be €180 more expensive at €1,499. The device is said to be available in Graphite, Cream, and Pink. WinFuture shared a few renders of the device, as seen below.

Android Central’s Take
We’ll find out soon enough if these leaks pan out, but from where I sit, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 seems more like Samsung checking boxes than pushing its foldable forward. After years of iterative releases, I can’t get away from the feeling that Samsung is leaning a bit too hard on the fact that it remains the biggest name in foldables. If these specs are true, existing Flip owners will have a hard time justifying the jump, while first-time buyers get a refined device that still doesn’t move the category forward in any meaningful way.
