Rumors are surfacing fast and furiously about an upgrade Samsung could give two of its flagship Galaxy S phones next year. If these rumors become reality, Samsung might finally make good on the one thing we’ve wanted for years.
Earlier this morning (July 27), continuing rumors from last week, GalaxyClub (Dutch) now suggests the specifications for a Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra battery upgrade have appeared (via SamMobile). The publication alleges that both phones could sport battery capacities above the 5,000mAh threshold. According to the post, the Galaxy S27 Ultra could receive a 5,700mAh or 5,800mAh battery at the next Galaxy Unpacked.
The publication assumes that this could be the result of Samsung dipping more into silicon-carbon battery technology. Nothing’s confirmed, but more on that in a moment. The rumors continue, stating the Galaxy S27 Pro might deliver a 5,200mAh battery. There have been several rumors about the S27 Pro, especially since next year (if we’re believing the rumors) would be its debut.

One common thread is that the Pro might “mirror” the Ultra in a few ways. This battery upgrade is new, considering we’ve heard things about its camera. Regarding the latest battery upgrade, this was a rumor that picked up traction from Naver (Korean).
Things have changed
The Galaxy S27’s battery was the subject of a rumor last week. A tipster from Naver claimed that Samsung was in the early stages of integrating its silicon-carbon battery tech with the upcoming series. Supposedly, the company had its devices “undergoing application testing.” Strangely, the tipster alleged that nothing was confirmed (of course, this is a rumor) and that the cell capacities hadn’t increased.
The rumors from GalaxyClub walk back on a portion of this rumor, stating the capacities have increased, and by a noticeable amount, too. The Galaxy S25 Ultra features a 5,000mAh battery. The S26 Ultra does, too. We’ve been stuck in this realm for a while with Samsung’s Ultra model, and an 800mAh increase would be a boon to its battery life, enabling more scrolling, gaming, and video watching. This silicon-carbon angle is even more interesting when you consider Samsung’s latest foldables now feature it.
Still, these are rumors, and we should treat them as such (though it is exciting). The other side of that report said the S27 and S27 Pro could swap Samsung’s ISOCELL camera sensor for Sony’s.

It would’ve been hard to imagine a major upgrade like silicon-carbon batteries without a meaningful capacity increase. The Ultra needs some help. I like the phone, but the battery capacity is lagging behind its competitors. There’s no two ways about it. Asking for a 6,000mAh battery might sound like greed, so if a 5,800mAh is what we’re looking at, that’s fine.
