October 13, 2026:

The White House’s new press secretary made news at her first meeting with reporters on Tuesday, telling them that President Donald Trump’ has asked his Ambassador to Greece, Kimberly Guilfoyle, to hand her resignation as a deluge of negative press keeps stacking up.
The announcement by newly installed White House press secretary Katie Zacharia amounted to Guilfoyle being effectively fired just one day after Trump publicly said he was considering dismissing her after allegations she asked a political donor to pay a $100,000 personal American Express bill. Guilfoyle, who was once engaged to Donald Trump Jr. and was a major player in the MAGA Movement, also has racked up a reputation for hard partying in Athens and living large as Trump’s personal rep in the region.
“We have asked Ambassador Guilfoyle to resign. She has been a wonderful asset to the team and we wish her well,” Zacharia said in an unusually brief debut in the briefing room.
Guilfoyle is a former prosecutor and television personality. She and Trump Jr. broke off their engagement last year, months before the Senate confirmed her to be the United States’ top representative to Greece. She was previously married to California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who is widely seen as a 2028 contender for the Democratic nomination for President.
