Set in 1986 Madras, “Baththa” is a vintage period action-drama that follows the dual life of a feared area don who carries deep emotional scars after a tragedy separates him from his family. Vijay Sethupathi steps into a rugged ruffian persona in “Baththa”, sporting a classic retro look with sunglasses and thick chain. Lijomol Jose plays his wife, anchoring the film’s heavy family-driven narrative. Music for “Baththa” is scored by Sai Abhyankkar, providing an energetic and distinct musical backdrop. “Baththa” is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on October 1, 2026. The trailer for “Baththa” opens with children building up a larger-than-life mythos around Baththa’s feared reputation. However, the core of the story of “Baththa” shifts when an accidental encounter changes everything—a timid eight-year-old boy accidentally locks the feared criminal inside a school restroom. As he faces isolation, an unlikely, life-transforming friendship begins to blossom, contrasting his chaotic don life with his deep-rooted desire to get back to his family.
