Vertica® – RF Treatment for Erectile Dysfunction

December 9, 2024:

What is Vertica?

Vertica® is an at-home device for treating erectile dysfunction. The device uses RF energy to rehabilitate and strengthen tissues involved in the erectile process. A series of treatments administered over a period of 2-3 months is said to result in long-term improvements in erectile dysfunction.

The Vertica device comes in two models: the basic model, and the Vertica Plus, which uses a smart-phone app to manage the treatments. Vertica was developed by Ohh-Med, a med-tech startup. It has been available in Israel for four years, and is now shipping in the United Kingdom and the European Union. It is currently entering FDA trials in the United States, with planned availability in January, 2026.

As of December, 2024, the company has shipped more than 6,500 devices, with a high degree of patient satisfaction (the return rate is less than 5%).

Subjects are currently being enrolled for a clinical study, “Safety and Efficacy of the VERTICA® RF Device for the Treatment of ED,” in Newport Beach California, Irvine California, San Diego California, Miami Florida, Chicago Illinois, Houston Texas, and Cleveland Clinic Ohio. About Ohh-Med

The manufacturer of Vertica, Ohh-Med Medical Ltd, is an Israeli medtech startup company that develops, manufactures, and markets a range of patented ED treatment devices for both the home and clinical markets. The company was founded in 2017 by Daniel Lischinsky, a serial medtech entrepreneur, who also serves as the company’s CEO. Mr. Lischinsky holds numerous patents for medical treatments and devices. Prior to Ohh-Med, Daniel founded Endymed Medical Ltd, where he served as VP R&D and CTO.

How Does Vertica Work?

Vertica uses radio frequency (RF) energy to restore the collagen fibers found in the sheath of the penis. Studies have shown a link between collagen alterations and erectile dysfunction, but this connection has been largely ignored by ED researchers. Dermatologists have been using RF energy for collagen tissue renewal for decades, to treat various skin conditions; Vertica represents the first application of RF treatments to erectile dysfunction.

Initially subjects administer three treatments per week, dropping down to two treatments per week after the first month. Each treatment takes a little over 30 minutes, and is completely painless. The initial round of treatment usually takes three months, but some men report seeing results in as little as three weeks.

Vertica is completely safe, and complies with European Union (EU) safety regulations.

In a pilot clinical study, 88% of men using the device saw a significant improvement in erectile function over the course of the 8-week treatment. Men showed an average improvement of more than 7 points on the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) scale. A follow-up study after six months found that the benefits persisted. Larger studies are currently underway as part of the FDA approval process in the United States.

There is anecdotal evidence that Vertica treatments also improve Peyronie’s Disease and urinary incontinence; studies are being planned to assess these effects.

Vertica Pricing

Vertica is not yet available in the United States. In the UK and EU, the device sells for £1,275.00 (about $1,600 US), and the Vertica Plus sells for £1,500.00 ($1,880). Payment plans are available.

RF Treatments Versus Shockwave Therapy for Erectile Dysfunction

Vertica RF treatments are very different from LI-ESWT (Low-Intensity Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy) treatments, which work to restore blood flow to the penis by breaking down plaque, and promoting the growth of new blood vessels.

Radio Frequency treatments also increase blood flow, but in addition they strengthen the collagen fibers that trap blood in the penis durign an erection.

Vertica® is a registered trademark of Ohh-Med Medical Limited for its medical apparatus and accessories for treating erectile dysfunction.
