Barry Keoghan is setting the record straight on how to pronounce his last name!

On Wednesday (March 11), the 33-year-old Oscar-nominated actor appeared on BBC 1′s The Breakfast Show to promote his new movie, Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man.

During his appearance, Barry applauded host Greg James for correctly pronouncing his last name as “Kee-oh-gan.”

Keep reading to find out more…“Every time I say it on the radio, people are like, ‘It’s not Kee-OH-gan.’ I’m like, ‘It is!’” Greg shared.

When Barry asked who is spreading the incorrect pronunciation, Greg joked that it’s “everyone.”

“Until a Keoghan tells you it’s not how you say it, well then you know,” Barry responded.

Greg admitted that he would get annoyed when people would tell him not to “pronounce the -eogan,” before exclaiming, “Yeah you do pronounce the ‘eogan!”

As for how he remembered how to correctly pronounce Barry‘s last name, Greg joked that after watching the end of 2023’s Saltburn — in which Barry went full frontal for a dance number — Greg was “talking about Barry’s Ke-oh-gan for a long time.”

“So it works better,” Greg explained. “If you’re saying, ‘I’m looking at Barry’s Kee-gan,’ it’s not quite the same.”

Barry agreed, noting, “No, Kee-gan is wrong. It sounds like an infection.”
