Mexico Suprema Corte de Justicia de la Nación [Supreme Court] 2026, Declaratoria General de Inconstitucionalidad  01/2024, Plenary of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation, Presiding Judge: Justice Juan Luis González Alcántara Carrancá, January 30, 2025. Decision in Spanish.  [The state of Chihuahua must implement the federal  decriminalization of abortion in its laws].

Mexico: Suprema Corte de Justicia de la Nación [Supreme Court] 2026, Declaratoria General de Inconstitucionalidad 1/2025, Feb. 16, 2026. Draft Decision in Spanish. Official press release in Spanish. [The Court struck down as unconstitutional a rule in the Mexican state of Sinaloa that allowed third-party substitution of consent for abortion for pregnant females who are deemed incapable of giving consent.]

Zambia: Violet Zulu v The People (HPA/20/2025) [2026] ZMHC 14 (16 January 2026). Decision online. [The High Court of Zambia overturned the conviction of a house cleaner, freeing her from a seven-year prison sentence for procuring her own abortion using herbs. Zambia’s liberal abortion law includes socio-economic grounds, but doctors are required for legal abortion and poor women cannot afford doctors’ fees.
