Samsung is reportedly starting to roll out One UI 9 Beta 2 to enrolled Galaxy S26 units for one region, at least. Android Authority reports that it has received Beta 2 on a Galaxy S26 Ultra registered in the U.K. this week. This second beta is quite large, as the publication reports a 1.6GB download upon receiving. What’s funny is that the changelog for this update isn’t as detailed (or extensive) as the download size would have us believe.
Primarily, all Samsung has detailed for Beta 2 are bug fixes. The company says it’s rolling out fixes for the game booster’s “entry point setting error,” an issue where the lock screen “gradually moves down,” and a problem users encountered when deleting messages “in bulk.” LockStar is a part of Samsung’s Good Lock system, which opens up a new world of device customization for users.
Likely coming off the back of user feedback, Samsung says it’s rolling out a fix for a LockStar error “where the lock screen clock font does not change.” The remainder of the changelog is as follows:
- Improved status bar display error
- GPUWatch interruption popup issue fixed
- Improved the non-functioning issues in the routine app
New software everywhere
Samsung also states that One UI 9 Beta 2 carries the June 2026 security patch with it, too. Perhaps this helps make that 1.6GB download make a little more sense. Other devices on Samsung’s stable server likely won’t see this June patch until late next week, if not the week after.
It might feel like we’ve just barely gotten into One UI 9’s beta, and we’re already getting another piece. That’s reasonable. Samsung rolled out One UI 9’s beta roughly two weeks ago, giving its enrolled Galaxy S26 users an early taste of Android 17. Early on, Samsung showed off new customization tools in its Notes app and a direct link between the Contacts apps with the Creative Studio. Even the Quick Panel’s getting another look. The brightness, sound, and media player options have been separated for better control.
Samsung moves ahead with Android 17, but its year-old Galaxy phones (and more) are just getting One UI 8.5. The company started pushing its latest OS upgrade to the Galaxy S25 and more earlier this month after many, many months of delays and beta tests.

I’d imagine new features that Samsung is working on will come to light a little later. Usually, this stuff is hidden, so deeper dives into the code is required to get some items to work (kind of). Also, Samsung is speeding ahead with Android 17. The first reports of its internal testing came a while ago, meaning it’s not wanting to sit back and relax this year for the next major OS. I’m totally on borad with that.
