CLOSE YOUR EYES is quickly emerging as one of K-pop’s most exciting next-generation boy groups, and we wanted Just Jared readers to have an exclusive chance to get to know them even better!

Also known as CYE, the seven-member group under UNCORE Entertainment was formed through JTBC’s survival show PROJECT7 and officially debuted on April 2, 2025, with their first mini album, ENTERNALT, marking the beginning of their journey on the global stage.

PROJECT7 first aired on October 18, 2024, captivating audiences with high-stakes performances and emotional eliminations. During the live finale on December 27, 2024, the group name CLOSE YOUR EYES and its final lineup were revealed: Ma Jingxiang, Kenshin, Jeon Minwook, Seo Kyoungbae, Song Seungho, Jang Yeojun, and Kim Sungmin.

Several members were already familiar faces to fans before joining the show: Jeon Minwook previously debuted with boy group BAE173 and project group A-SIX, while Ma Jingxiang and Jang Yeojun gained recognition as contestants on Boys Planet. Yeojun also impressed viewers with his versatility on Wild Idol.

This week, the band kicked off a new chapter with the release of their third mini album, blackout. The R&B and House-inspired release includes title track “X,” featuring lyrics written by member Jeon Min-wook, as well as their first collaboration track “SOB” featuring Grammy-Award winning producer Imanbek, “2.0,” and “Who’s Day? (Jane Doe),” plus an English version of “X.”

With their standout talent, diverse backgrounds, and the momentum of PROJECT7 behind them, CLOSE YOUR EYES is poised to be one of K-pop’s most promising rising groups.

10 Fun Facts About CLOSE YOUR EYES

1. During the concept shoot for their first mini album ENTERNALT, Seungho ended up with blue hair, not by choice, but thanks to a little mishap! Kenshin accidentally spilled blue paint on him, and it turned out to be a surprisingly iconic look in the photos.
2. Yeojun and Minwook are both the current MCs for Show Champion, alongside 82MAJOR‘s Nam Seongmo.
3. Their fandom name CLOSER represents the people closest to CLOSE YOUR EYES. They’re so precious, you think of them even when you close your eyes.
4. Minwook has a knack for freestyle rapping; give him a beat and he’s ready to go especially when it comes to his lyrical and songwriting talent – read the lyrics for title track ‘X’!
5. Yeojun once wanted glasses so badly as a kid that he stared at TVs and lights without blinking. His mom caught him, but he still got his wish with glasses that had no lenses!
6. Jingxiang has a collection of adorable nicknames! Fans call him “Penguin” for his tall frame and baby face, “Xiaoma” from his trainee days in China, and “Prince” for his warm, handsome aura.
7. Sungmin proudly declares himself the best selfie-taker in CYE! Every time he sees his photocards, he can’t help but feel a little extra proud.
8. Seungho is fluent in Japanese and often interprets for Kenshin. He’s great at conversations, though he admits reading and writing are still a work in progress!
9. Kyoungbae is the ultimate athlete! He trained in taekwondo for 9 years (and earned a 4th Dan black belt!), played volleyball for 7 years, badminton for 4, and swam for 3.
10. Kenshin may struggle with spicy food, but his love for Korean cuisine always wins, he’ll brave the heat every time!
